Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing why crime novels and TV shows are popular and offering a personal opinion regarding their informative and protective value. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive, as seen when the writer repeatedly mentions that these shows help people stay safe in vulnerable situations without introducing fresh arguments. Furthermore, the position is not always clearly articulated due to weak phrasing such as 'I think that people like to watch suspicious movies'. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the lack of deeper extension and supporting detail places this response firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is arranged with paragraphing, but the overall progression lacks clear logical flow. The introduction plunges straight into the body without an effective overview, and transitions between sentences feel mechanical or abrupt, such as 'To begin with nowadays crime movies and dramas are becoming people favorite.' Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as demonstrated by 'let take "Incidents by Mistake" one of the famous book based on crime'. While there is a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, the organizational flaws and repetitive use of cohesive ties limit the coherence to a Band 5 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'crime', 'shows', 'movies', and 'books'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'suspicious movies' instead of 'thrillers' or 'crime dramas', 'people this movies' instead of 'people think these movies', and 'oftenly made'. The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'vulnerable situation' and 'precautions', but these are overshadowed by frequent word-choice errors and spelling issues. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic coordination. Where complex structures are attempted, they are frequently faulty and contain grammatical errors, such as 'Most of the places in the world, crime books and shows getting more views by large number of people' and 'It is beneficial to watch for this programs to be safe and secure.' There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions that cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also erratic, with missing capitalisation and periods separating incomplete thoughts. These persistent errors place the grammar at a Band 4.
