Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this Modern Era, TV crime and Crime novels are famous globally day by day. I think that it is possible because of crime in the world, and young generation also likes to learn about these types of crime from novels and TV shows. I will also share my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, crime in the world is increasing every single that is one of the reasons that most of the people like to watch crime shows and read novels as well. for example: the recent research in the oxford university inn 2025 shows that 75% of the younger generation like to watch crime dramas. This is the biggest number compared to others.

Secondly, people like to watch this type of bradcasting that is also the reason. Directors and producers also want money. They are making stuff that gives them more money. They want more views or TRP instead of religious movies and inspirational movies. For Instance: The survey shows that 80% of people like to that crime related stories instead of other topics.

My opinion on this topic is that directors and sponsors should make decisions so that they are not all focusing on one particular topic. They should make movies and dramas equally.

Because it will increase the level of crime in the world, and the situation will be worse after some time.

To conclude this, in many countries, TV Dramas and Novels are popular and people like to watch specially young generation. It will not be good for the world. new generation should learn new skills, not how to do crime. There is no doubt give knoeledge about the crime is good but attempting the crime and how to do it is not good.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why crime novels and TV shows are popular, and the writer's opinion on them. A clear position is presented throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding the reasons for popularity, which focus heavily on financial motives and vague statistical claims (e.g., 'the recent research in the oxford university inn 2025 shows that 75%'). The arguments could have been extended with deeper elaboration, such as discussing human psychological fascination with dark themes or the entertainment value of suspense. Despite these limitations, all parts of the prompt are covered, aligning well with the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall coherent arrangement. Basic cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'To begin with,' 'Secondly,' and 'To conclude this.' However, paragraphing is somewhat erratic, with the writer splitting the conclusion into two separate single-sentence paragraphs. Furthermore, referencing and logical progression are occasionally faulty, as seen in the sudden shift in the final paragraphs regarding the social consequences of media. Cohesive devices are at times mechanical or repetitive, placing this response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate simple ideas about entertainment, crime, and public preference. However, the range is limited, and there are several noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'bradcasting' instead of 'broadcasting,' and awkward collocations like 'attempting the crime.' The misuse of capitalization ('Modern Era', 'oxford university') and spelling mistakes detract from the precision of the text. Because the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message despite these errors, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'give knoeledge about the crime is good') and missing prepositions or articles. For instance, the sentence 'crime in the world is increasing every single that is one of the reasons' contains a broken clause. While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, their frequency and the presence of basic structural flaws mean the grammar sits below Band 6, fitting the descriptors for Band 5.0.
