High popularity of crime novels and TV crime dramas are significant in recent times. People are enjoying these type of dramas and movies alot. This essay will explain all the reasons and my opinion.

Crime novels and TV crime dramas are so popular in many countries because of thrilling experience. The story of these type of books or movies creates suspense in audiences. So, they think about the murderer and watch or read till the end. Additionally, some people like thriller and action movies rather than romantic movies.

Furthermore, these type of books or movies provide an entironment to the audience. They see whether they are capable to solve the mystery or not. They will feel happy and proud after solving a case. Also, people can learn about laws and punishments.

There are some drawbacks too. Murderers get new ideas to do some crime without being caught. They are able to think like police. Also, these type of movies can motivate the people to do crime and by looking these type of dramas people do more crimes. This is one of the reason why crimes and murders have been increased in recent times. Additionally, It creates negative impacts on brain and personality. People can become more viloent.

Furthermore, it is very harmful for children because children can learn very quickly from movies. These will affect their future.

In my opinion, people should watch such movies or dramas but in a control way. They should take it in a positive way and teach their children too.

In conclusion, this type of entirenemnt is good if people take it in a good way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and TV dramas, and also provides a personal opinion on the genre, including some negative aspects and a concluding viewpoint. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack full extension. For instance, the reasons given for popularity, such as 'thrilling experience' and 'suspense in audiences,' are somewhat repetitive, relying heavily on phrases like 'these type of books or movies.' Similarly, the negative impacts are listed rather than deeply explored. The response meets the core requirements of the task, but the development of ideas places it firmly in the mid-range. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is coherent overall with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, reasons for popularity, drawbacks, personal opinion, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and repetitive. The phrase 'these type of' is overused to link sentences and paragraphs, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'These will affect their future.' Transitional markers like 'Furthermore' and 'Also' are used frequently to string ideas together, but the logical progression between sentences within paragraphs can feel mechanical rather than fluid. While the essay is easy enough to follow, the structural mechanics are somewhat simplistic. This matches the descriptors for band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, with terms like 'suspense,' 'murderer,' 'punishments,' and 'personality.' However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations. For example, 'entironment' is a spelling error for 'environment,' 'in a control way' should be 'in a controlled way,' and 'entirenemnt' is a misspelling of 'entertainment.' Furthermore, the vocabulary is repetitive, particularly with phrases like 'these type of books or movies' and 'good way.' There are also word form errors, such as 'viloent' instead of 'violent.' While communication is not impeded, the frequent repetition and lexical inaccuracies restrict the score to a 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'They see whether they are capable to solve the mystery or not' and 'This is one of the reason why crimes and murders have been increased in recent times.' However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('High popularity... are significant' and 'One of the reason'), incorrect prepositions ('in recent times' is used repeatedly, though sometimes awkwardly), and missing articles ('in a control way'). Punctuation and capitalization are generally fine, but the frequency of grammatical mistakes in basic and complex structures means that errors cause occasional distraction. This aligns with a band score of 5.0.
