IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

No doubt that people are inclining towards watching crime dramas and novels in this modern epoch. However, I believe that these crime-related shows and novels are more effective for some reasons, and it has some positive impact on society.

To commence with, there are myriad contributing factors that raise interest in crime stories and movies. First and foremost is the suspense in movies. Indeed, most of the movie makers make good content in their movies by adding some person's real life, so people would be encouraged to watch them. To elaborate, a few years ago, a movie was made by indian actor that was based on the real life of Mahindr Dhoni, who is well- known cricker in indian team. As a result, more and more people visited at that time to watch this story because it motivated them to work hard. Apart from that, every person in this world has a hectic schedule with a lot of responsibilities, so movies are the best way to spend their leisure time, and it engaged them.

However, watching and reading these sorts of programs and novels is highly beneficial for the whole society. The predominant one is that it creates awareness among individuals, not just entertains them. For example, in today's world, the majority of programs have spread awareness among people because, while watching these kinds of programs, people get a chance to know how criminals use different kinds of things to kill and how they steal things from any place. Consequently, people can easily deal with all things without any hindrance.

In conclusion, after discussing the above reasons and factors, I conclude that these crime- based programs and novels are the best way to get to know about the crimes so people can become self-reliant.
