IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's rapidly evolving world the topic of TV crime dramas has sparked considerable debate among indivuduals and expret alike. While there are valid arguments in support of and against this issue, it remain a matter of social priorties, and broader global trends. Some people believe watching this type of content is very captivating other argue it can lead to trauma in early age. I believe the popularity of these type of dramas due to massive social media marketing.
To begin with, there are several reasons why people support this type of books and TV shows is production agencies are putting heavy amounts to promoto this type of content among the youth. Furthermore, most people watch them not becasue of their personal choice it is due to control fear and anxiety. For Example, studies shows in US and Canada $200 Million dollors solely spent on this type of TV shows in 2025 and other one hundred spent on ad compagins.
On the other hand, there are also convincing arguments in favour of individuals who argue that contries can spent this huge amount of money on education and health sector that can lead a progressive shif in economy. However, the main reason of this is prove by a recent study which shows criminal activities are tend to more and more popular among these days in teen age individuals.Thus, although the first perspective has certain advantages, the opposing argument also deserves careful consideration.
In conclusion, TV crime dramas are providing a cheap sort of entertainmet but we should also overlooked the disadvantages regarding this.Ultimately, a balanced and well-considered approach is likely to produce more beneficial outcomes.
