Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely acknowledged that crime-related entertainment shows and bokks are becoming more popular in many parts of the world. I believe one of the reasons for it is because it raises public awareness as to the possibilities of a crime events . Additionally, it encourages people to be vigilant in case it happens in real life. In my opinion, I believe that these shows and books are educational and entertaining. This is mainly because, their contents are not only confounded on crime scenes but also other social aspects, such as love story and sometimes even comedy.
One of the most compelling reasons why I believe popularlity of crime shows and books are increasing is because of valuable input a person can learn by simply watching or reading. This is due to the fact that majority of these shows are incorporating educational details into the story premise, which consequently enable their watchers and readers to be well-informed of nature of a crime. By integrating essential learnings into the books and shows, their creators widens a person's knowledge about a particular crime situation and its potential origin, thereby improving people's perception on the underlying condition of a particular crime. For example, shows about a serial killers can help watchers why some people commit a crime, and it is because they might have medical condition, thus understanding the nature of the crime.
In my opinion, I believe that shows and books about crimes can attract more watchers and readers. This is mainly because they are mixing other genres, such as comedy and romance into the shows, which consequently encourage people to watch. Additionally, the concept of these books and shows are being oriented into bridging the gaps between possibility and impossibility, thereby enlightening people. For instance, crime books featuring a plot where the antogonist falls in love with the protoganist, thus increasing people's awareness to the possibility of something extraordinary can happen even during the darkest times.
In conclusion, crime books and shows are gaining popularity in many socities, mainly because of the educational and entertaining benefits people can get from it. I maintain my position that these shows can provide essential learnings to their viewers and readers that it is way it is becoming the a preferrable shows to many.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why crime entertainment is popular and providing a clear personal opinion that these shows are both educational and entertaining. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas lack deep development and tend to be repetitive. For example, the point about educational value is mentioned multiple times without introducing distinct sub-points, and the examples provided, such as serial killers having medical conditions, are slightly vague. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are met adequately, placing this response at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response features a clear overall arrangement with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'This is due to the fact that', and 'In conclusion' are employed, but some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'In my opinion, I believe that'. Referencing is generally clear, though minor cohesion slips occur, such as awkward phrasing in the final sentence ('that it is way it is becoming the a preferrable shows'). Overall progression is discernible, aligning with a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'vigilant', 'compelling', and 'extraordinary'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('bokks', 'popularlity', 'antogonist', 'protoganist', 'preferrable') and word-form or collocation inaccuracies ('confounded on' instead of 'focused on', 'widens a person's knowledge'). While these lexical flaws do not completely impede communication, they reflect the characteristics of Band 5.5 to 6.0. Given the successful communication of ideas despite errors, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses ('shows that can provide essential learnings...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('shows about a serial killers can help watchers why some people commit a crime') and redundant phrasing ('In my opinion, I believe'). Punctuation errors are also present, such as missing articles ('nature of a crime', 'the a preferrable shows'). These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, fitting comfortably into the Band 5.5 or 6.0 descriptor.
