Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many Countries, the genere of crime thriller in novels and TV dramas is getting popular day by day. There are various reasons behind the popularity of this genere which would be discussed in this essay along with my opinion on crime novels and Crime TV dramas.

The first and foremost reason is that Crime rate in most of the countries is increasing and people are made aware through tv dramas and novels that this could be the possible crime happen to them and their loved ones. So that they would be aware of what could happen and what they can do to not be the target. Then the second reason is that Producers or film makers express real life incidents through such movies and novels which makes interest among people to get to know the whole story behind the crime happened in real life.

The third reason behind crime thriller's popularity is that it shows possible solutions to catch the culprits and also suggest many strategies that could used in real life as well to help someone. I would share one of such experiences of my life, My father was tradpped in a crime which he did not comitted. The police investigation and our strategies learnt from watching crime series made me help police to investigate the case and to prove my father's innocense. I was really proud to learn from TV series and to get my father out of false charges. So watching crime shows and crime novels is really Useful.

To Conclude, the popularity of Crime series and novels is increasing in many countries due to increasing crime rates, to make people aware about the crimes happening around them and to make them aware about the possible strategies to handle difficult situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and providing a clear personal opinion. The writer organizes the response around distinct reasons, such as increasing crime awareness and the appeal of real-life adaptations. Ideas are generally relevant, though some points are slightly repetitive or under-developed. For instance, the second body paragraph introduces a personal anecdote about a father trapped in a crime to illustrate the educational value of crime shows. While this offers support for the writer's opinion, the connection between the anecdote and the broader reasons for popularity could be more fully extended and generalized to meet higher standards.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Information and ideas flow reasonably well, and basic cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'Then the second reason', and 'To Conclude' are utilized to structure the response. However, the cohesion feels somewhat mechanical and formulaic. Paragraphing is present, but the internal organization of sentences within the body paragraphs occasionally lacks seamless transitions, and referencing is not always completely clear, such as the abrupt shift into the personal anecdote in the third paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'culprits', 'police investigation', and 'false charges'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including repetitions of 'genere' instead of 'genre', 'tradpped' instead of 'trapped', 'comitted' instead of 'committed', and 'innosense' instead of 'innocence'. These inaccuracies demonstrate a limited control of word formation and spelling, restricting the score to a moderate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct longer sentences containing subordinate clauses, such as '...people are made aware through tv dramas and novels that this could be the possible crime happen to them...' However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several structural errors and awkward phrasings, such as 'the possible crime happen', 'which makes interest among people', and articles missing or misused in places. Punctuation is also occasionally weak, with run-on tendencies. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher rating.
