Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, serials based on crimes rates and illegal novels are preferred by people to watch than other informative stuff. This essay will elaborate the reasons of this phenomenon along with my opinion of this certain scenario.

Firstly, such kind of books and tv shows creates an interest among people about the crazy ending. For example, while watching any documentary , stories are molded in such a way that human mind has become more curious to know the next happening which encourages to them to invest their more time in particular

tv serials. Likewise, hype and permotions are also important to increase individuals interest as these days movies related to criminal activities are promoted and launched on a very high level than to deliver a good concept infront of society.

In my opinion, pemoting such books and dramas can be a good approach for people's awareness, but it also give criminals more ways find new crime techiniques.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt only partially, primarily due to the severe length deficiency, as the essay contains 156 words, falling well short of the 250-word minimum. While the writer attempts to answer both parts of the task by discussing reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and offering a personal opinion, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the notion that TV shows create interest in a 'crazy ending' is introduced with an example about documentaries and molded stories, but the explanation lacks depth and fails to fully explore the psychological appeal of such media. Similarly, the writer's opinion regarding criminals finding new techniques is stated briefly without adequate extension or supporting evidence. To achieve a higher score, the response would need to meet the length requirement and provide fully elaborated arguments with specific, well-supported examples for all parts of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion, but the essay lacks a clear overall progression. The relationship between ideas is sometimes difficult to follow because cohesive devices are used inadequately or inaccurately. For example, transition phrases such as 'Firstly' and 'Likewise' are employed, but referencing and logical flow are weak, particularly in the second paragraph where sentences like 'stories are molded in such a way that human mind has become more curious to know the next happening which encourages to them to invest their more time' run on awkwardly. Paragraphing is attempted, but the text is far too brief to demonstrate skilful structuring. To progress further, the writer needs to ensure logical sequencing between sentences, use a wider range of cohesive devices naturally, and structure paragraphs to develop distinct points clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'documentary', 'curious', and 'activities', but these are accompanied by frequent word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors. For instance, terms like 'serials based on crimes rates', 'illegal novels', 'permotions', and 'pemoting' demonstrate a lack of precision and incorrect word forms. While communication is not entirely blocked, the restricted range and persistent lexical inaccuracies prevent the writing from achieving a higher band. To improve, the writer should focus on accurate word formation, precise collocations related to the topic of crime media, and careful proofreading to eliminate spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, including incorrect prepositions, article omissions, and awkward verb patterns. Examples include 'are preferred by people to watch than other informative stuff', 'creates an interest among people', 'encourages to them to invest their more time', and 'give criminals more ways find new crime techiniques'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally pause and decipher the meaning. To reach a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures, improve accuracy in verb complementation and prepositions, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
