Student answer (Band 5.5)
In these days, in numerous nations crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular because people show their interest in crime scene and more curious about what will be the next.
To begin with, one of the most important reasons increasing popularity of TV shows and novel book is due to curiosity of an individuals as it is related to human life. For instance, while reading or watching such type of crime, an individual think that these incidents are happening with them. So, an individual focus more on reading by thinking what will happen next. In addition, if such incident happen with an individual then thinking how to overcome from such circumstances.
From my perspective, these have both positive and negative impacts because these crime scenes make people awareness about to prevent themselves if such incident occur with them where as watching such crimes make people hypnotise and insist them to do such crimes. Moreover, somebody try to be involve in doing such crime for fun and enjoyment of themself. They want to see how it happens in reality by conducting such crimes. However, I believe these should be banned in cast in TV as it encourages people to do such bad things which harm to other people.
To conclude, these reading and watching of such crimes novels and dramas are becoming more popular because people shows their interest in such activity. However, it should be banned to teenagers as their mind is in developing process, and an individual want to be involve in such crimes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, exploring why crime stories are popular and offering a personal opinion. However, the ideas remain limited and under-developed, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher level. While the writer touches on curiosity and the desire to understand crime prevention, the explanation lacks depth. Similarly, the opinion section introduces relevant concepts such as potential negative influences and the risk of copycat behaviour, but these arguments are stated rather than extended with concrete, detailed examples. The position is generally understandable, though the conclusion introduces a rather extreme stance regarding a total ban for teenagers without fully supporting this proposition. To achieve a stronger response, the writer needs to expand each main body point with fuller explanations and more robust supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates an overall coherent arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the writing into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, such as the causes of popularity in the first body paragraph and personal opinions in the subsequent one. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear. For instance, the transition 'while reading or watching such type of crime, an individual think that these incidents are happening with them' creates a somewhat unclear logical link. Furthermore, cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover' are occasionally overused or relied upon rigidly rather than integrated smoothly. To progress further, the writer should ensure that ideas flow more naturally from one sentence to the next by refining pronoun referencing and varying the transitional devices used.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and just minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'curiosity', 'circumstances', and 'hypnotise', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. For example, expressions like 'novel book', 'such type of crime', and 'make people awareness' demonstrate inaccurate lexical control. Additionally, the phrase 'banned in cast in TV' reveals a struggle with precise terminology. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, these recurring lexical inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to this band. To improve, the student should focus on learning standard collocations and ensuring accurate word forms, such as distinguishing between nouns and adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence frames alongside attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are recurrent errors in articles, prepositions, plurals, and verb forms throughout the text. Examples include missing articles ('in these days'), incorrect prepositions ('overcome from such circumstances'), and flawed subject-verb agreement or tense usage, such as 'if such incident happen' and 'somebody try to be involve'. Attempts at relative clauses and conditional structures often contain structural flaws that cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. To move up to the next band, the writer must focus on increasing the proportion of error-free sentences by paying closer attention to basic grammatical rules, subject-verb agreement, and the accurate construction of complex clauses.
