Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only minimally and tangentially, presenting ideas that are limited and under-developed. While the writer attempts to answer both parts of the prompt regarding the popularity of crime fiction and their personal opinion, the expression of these ideas is frequently unclear and disjointed. For instance, the reasons given for popularity, such as 'increasing population and technology' or inflation, are not clearly linked to the appeal of crime dramas. Furthermore, the personal opinion focuses vaguely on awareness and moral lessons without fully developing a coherent stance. Some parts of the response are repetitive or lack logical relevance to the main topic. Overall, the ideas remain underdeveloped and fragmentary, preventing a clear and structured progression of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Information and ideas are not arranged in a truly coherent way, reflecting some organizational effort but lacking a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted with transitional markers like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'AT the end', but these markers are often misused or attached to sentences that do not logically follow from one another. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as the pronoun shifts in 'he want to snatched the other person' and 'what we should do on this time', which creates confusion about who or what is being discussed. The transitions between sentences feel mechanical and erratic, making it difficult for the reader to follow a smooth line of reasoning throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, containing numerous errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that strain the reader. Examples such as 'develop countries', 'awarnes', 'distrebute', 'murderd', 'comen', and 'succesed' demonstrate a limited control of lexical items. Attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inflation' or 'zeal and zest', are often undermined by incorrect collocations or inappropriate contexts. While the general topic of crime and TV shows can be discerned, the frequent lexical inaccuracies impede smooth communication and highlight a restricted range of vocabulary suitable for this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that obscure meaning and cause difficulty for the reader. Simple sentences are often awkwardly constructed, and attempts at complex structures are consistently faulty, seen in clauses like 'Some people argued that these books and TV shows are popular,In my personal opinion TV shows spread awarnes but it also distrebute how to control this situation through dramas.' There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement ('crime ratio are increased', 'every person have'), tense consistency ('We daily seen', 'people dont want'), missing articles, and punctuation run-ons. These persistent grammatical and mechanical errors significantly restrict the readability and clarity of the text.
