Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, it has been noticed that thrilled story base books and movies are going to be more popular in people especially among the youngsters. The main reason of their familiarity is the coruisty of people to know about the crimes. In this essay, i will discuss the main reason of popularity of crime shows and books, and i will also my points of view.

First main reason, of the popularity of these materials is that an excessive amount of people appreciate this type of serias and novels because they keen on the adventures in their life .The things that they read and watch they also have a curiosity to apply in real life. A substantial amount of crimes has been reported due to the advantures of youngsters.

The other main reason for the popularity of these materials is just because of entertainment. Modern lifestyle has made everyone busy ,that they do not have time for each other, especially office workers and students, and when they get a chance of enjoyment they prefer to watch content that would help to reduce their stree and also entertain them.

On the other hand, these type of content is not my

cup of tea.I don't think that this type of material can be helpful for people who sre suffring from anxiety and stress. Additionally, youngsters are being motivated to take part in crime, because of it's adventure and curiosity.

To sum up, although thia type of content urge youth to commit a crime, these books and movies should be banned. This type of material should not be easily available to all people

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the prompt by discussing both the reasons for the popularity of crime fiction and providing a personal opinion. However, the ideas are rather limited and under-developed, which keeps the score at this level. For instance, the explanation of why people enjoy these shows relies on general statements like 'curiosity of people to know about the crimes' without much elaboration. The position is stated, but the arguments lack extended support and specific examples from personal knowledge or experience. Furthermore, the conclusion abruptly introduces a radical idea about banning these books and movies, which goes slightly beyond a balanced evaluation of personal opinion. To improve, you should extend your main points with deeper explanations and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the essay, with attempts to separate ideas into distinct paragraphs, but there is a lack of clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically and sometimes inappropriately, such as using 'On the other hand' where it does not signal a true logical contrast with the preceding paragraph. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, for example in phrases like 'these type of content' where pronouns and demonstratives lack smooth linkage. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions between the body paragraphs feel disjointed rather than flowing naturally. To achieve a higher score, you should ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally and that each paragraph flows logically into the next with clear transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word formation and spelling throughout the text, such as 'thrilled story base' instead of thriller-based, 'coruisty' instead of curiosity, 'serias' instead of series, 'keen' instead of are keen, and 'sre suffring' instead of are suffering. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reveal a restricted control of less common lexical items. To move up to a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, use correct word forms and collocations, and pay closer attention to accurate spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('excessive amount of people appreciate... because they keen'), articles ('The main reason of familiarity'), and prepositional use within phrases. Additionally, punctuation errors are present, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. These frequent errors cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb forms, and reducing the frequency of grammatical errors.
