Student answer (Band 5.5)

Now-a-days, In many countries crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. There are several reasons for this trend, and I believe that these type of entertainment can be intresting and useful if they are watched or read in a balanced way.

One majior reason for their popularity is curiosity. people wants to know how crimes happend and how criminals are caught. Crimes stories usualy cantain mystry which viewers intrested till the end. Another reason is that crime made a real dramas easier to acess.People watch this when they have there free time. In addition, some crime story based on real events which make them more intresting to the public.

In my opinion, crime fiction and TV dramas can be enjoyable because they think and solve problems. For example, viewers often try to guess who the criminal is before the police discover the truth. Some programmes also show how investigators collect evidence and use technology to solve difficult cases. This can increase people's interest in law and criminal investigations.

However, there can also be some disadvantages.Watching to much crime movie have create a nagitive effect on some people espacially young viewers.

In conclusion, crime novels and TV dramas are popular because they provide suspense, mystery and entertainment. I think they are genrally good form of entartainment, provided that people watch or read them in moderation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: curiosity, suspense and real-life inspiration are offered as reasons for popularity, and you give a generally positive opinion while acknowledging a possible negative effect on young viewers. However, several points are only briefly stated. For example, you say crime stories “make a real dramas easier to acess” without clearly explaining the idea, and the concern about negative effects is not supported with an example or explanation. Your position is present, especially in the conclusion, but could be developed more consistently. The response contains 217 words, so it is 33 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are excluded from this count. Develop each main point with a reason or example to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph explaining popularity, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Another reason,” “In addition,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. The progression is generally understandable, but some connections are mechanical, and the shift to disadvantages is abrupt: “However, there can also be some disadvantages” is followed by only one undeveloped point. The second paragraph also moves quickly from curiosity to access and real events without showing how these ideas relate. Use clearer topic sentences and develop each paragraph around one central idea, with references that connect examples back to your main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “curiosity,” “mystery,” “suspense,” “investigators,” and “evidence,” which helps communicate your ideas. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less precise, such as “intresting,” “usualy,” “mystry,” and “nagitive.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “crime made a real dramas easier to acess” and “they think and solve problems.” Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations, for example, describing stories as “based on real events” and saying that they “encourage viewers to think critically.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise phrases would make your meaning clearer and strengthen the vocabulary range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “I believe that these type of entertainment can be interesting and useful if they are watched or read in a balanced way.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur. For example, “people wants” should use a plural verb, while “Watching to much crime movie have create” contains several problems with the gerund phrase, quantity, plural noun and verb form. There are also punctuation and spacing slips, such as missing spaces after full stops. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and past or present verb forms, and build accurate complex sentences before adding more variety.
