Student answer (Band 5.5)

Novels and, TV shows provide information about daily life happenings. They shows the truth that revolves around in many people lives. In the modern era, with the help of sophisticated technology most of the countries make crime dramas. Moreover, crime novels are also easily available. Both of these are becoming very popular among individuals. This essay shed lights for the reason why these books and shows being popular? before explaining my opinion regarding crime dramas and fictions.

One main reason to increase in popularity for fiction shows are rapidly increment in crime rates in some countries. People want to know more about the society where they are living and, what are the possibilty of crime in the area. How they can deal with it? Secondly, with the help of televison shows related to crime people take extra care of themselves and for their loved ones. Apart from this, novels are also useful to know about the real crime incident that happened. For example: In india there is crime show telecasted every weekend at 9pm name Crime Petrol which displays the real crime incident that happened in past.

In my opinion, Crime and, fiction shows or novels play crucial role in everyone's lives. Due to rise in population and decline in unemployement rate people usually commit crime by hurting others. They do theft, kdinaping and, even murder for the money. Television shows aware people about their surrondings, prepare them for unpredictable circumstances.

In conclusion, because of unemployement there is increase in crime rate. Crime shows and novel help people to broaden their horizons of knowledge regarding bad happening. People like more of these shows to know about the reality of the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you suggest that people want to understand crime in their communities and learn ways to protect themselves, and you state that crime programmes and novels play an important role. The example of the Indian programme gives your explanation some support. However, the response only partly develops the task. Your opinion is broad and mostly repeats the idea that these programmes provide knowledge; you do not explain what you personally value about crime fiction or whether you have reservations about it. The claim that unemployment is declining while crime rises is also unclear and is not connected convincingly to the popularity of crime stories. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make your personal evaluation more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining popularity, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” is absent, but “Secondly,” “Apart from this” and “In conclusion” help signal movement between points. At times, however, progression is repetitive: the conclusion restates that crime programmes help people learn about society without adding a final insight. Some links are unclear, particularly the transition from rising crime to the claim that viewers take extra care, and the relationship between unemployment and crime in the final paragraphs. Organise the reasons in a clearer sequence and use pronouns and linking phrases to show precisely how each idea relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “crime rates,” “unpredictable circumstances” and “real crime incident,” and you attempt some less common expressions such as “broaden their horizons.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “daily life happenings” and “crime shows aware people” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “decline in unemployment rate” also conflicts with the point you appear to make about crime increasing. Spelling errors such as “possibilty,” “televison” and “surrondings” further reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural topic phrases and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a sentence beginning “Due to rise in population…” and a relative clause in “the real crime incident that happened.” However, control is inconsistent, and frequent errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms can make the reader pause. Examples include “They shows,” “This essay shed lights,” and “these books and shows being popular”; these need forms such as “They show,” “This essay sheds light,” and “these books and shows are popular.” The opening also contains an unnecessary comma after “Novels and,” while several questions are fragments rather than integrated sentences. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex structures.
