Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, many people from different countries enjoy crime-related shows. Crime novels and television programmes are becoming increasingly famous, especially among younger generations. I also are like to watch and read such topics because of thrill it gives.
There are some reasons of it. One of the most important reasons is that makers are using camera which are very modern. As a result, viewers can feel the intensity of a scene. In addition, it makes easy for them to convey their ideas and thoughs to the audience. People who prefer to listen music are also enjoy this kinds of cinema. Crime thrillers movies always have a good background music to support the story. Which makes a particular scene alive on the screen. For exapmle, A movie called Fight Club was from 1999 but people are still enjoying the music. Some people like to read novels of this genere. The plot of the story creates mystry and thrill in readers mind whic they finds facinating.
In my personal life, I have been a huge fan of crime thrillers. Although, I do not prefer to watch goreness, I enjoy murder mysteries. Stories and actings are the main aspects of movies or dramas. However, I like to see the process of how cops find culprits. That is the part that made me cinemaholic. Moreover, there are many film makers who are well-known for making such types of cinema. My favriout is David fincher.
Today, crime related books and TV dramas are getting so popular. I think, people are enjoying the cinema which made with hi-tech cameras and eqipments. Other than that they like to feel thrillness and mystery while watching or reading crime related contents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions: you suggest that modern filming and music create intensity, and you explain your own enjoyment of murder mysteries and police investigations. Your personal preference is clear, particularly in “I enjoy murder mysteries” and your interest in how “cops find culprits.” However, the reasons for the genre’s popularity are only partly developed. The discussion of cameras and music is quite general, and the Fight Club example does not clearly show why crime stories appeal to audiences. Your opinion is also more about your personal taste than an evaluation of crime fiction and dramas overall. Develop two or three reasons with clearer explanations and relevant examples, and state more directly what you think of the genre’s wider effects or value.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, reasons for popularity, personal opinion, and a concluding summary. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several links between ideas are unclear. For example, the point about people who “prefer to listen music” appears abruptly after the discussion of cameras, while “Which makes a particular scene alive” is a fragment rather than a clear continuation. The conclusion largely repeats the opening instead of bringing the main reasons together. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s focus, connect examples explicitly to the point they support, and avoid starting sentences with linking words that leave the relationship unclear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “murder mysteries,” “culprits,” “plot,” and “background music,” which helps communicate your subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “intensity” and “cinemaholic.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow: “thrillness,” “goreness,” “mystry,” and “this kinds of cinema” are examples. Spelling errors such as “facinating” and “favriout” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms. For instance, use “sense of suspense” rather than “thrillness,” and “graphic violence” rather than “goreness.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a relative clause in “the process of how cops find culprits.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures are incomplete or difficult to follow. Examples include “I also are like to watch,” “Which makes a particular scene alive,” and “people are enjoying the cinema which made with hi-tech cameras.” There are recurring problems with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, and make sure dependent clauses are attached to a complete main clause. For example, “I also like watching and reading these stories because they are thrilling” is a clearer structure.
