Student answer (Band 6.0)
Thesedays novels and TV dramas related to crime are becoming quite popular among individuals in many countries. This essay will discuss the reason behind it and give my opinion on popularity of crime related fiction and dramas.
The reason behind why crime novels and TV crime dramas are getting famous because of increasing crime rates. The crime rates are increasing considerably. In past, the purpose behind the crime were related to personal gain such as robbery, murder, kidnapping. Now crimes are way more frequent and planned. These crimes are more like a mystery which grabs the attention of people. In order to understand the case deeply and evaluate the psychological reason behind the crime, people watch such drmas and read novels. For instance - Netflix often telecast shows or documentries related to serious incidents. Hence, people are getting more interested in crime shows and novels. Another reason is that people like to watch stories with suspense and keep them engage till the last moment.
In my opinion, it is really beneficial to watch shows and read novels related to crimes because it not help people to build their carrer in crime investigation but also make them aware about their surrounding. Since crimes are consistent and frequent it is necessary for people to understand and recognize unusal activities around them. The awareness may help the people to detct a cime before it may happpen. Another thing is that it is good for people who like to watch fiction filled with thrill and suspense.
In conclusion, the increasing popularity of crime novels and dramas is because of increasing cime rates. In my opinion, it is benefical for those people who want to make their carrer in investigation and also a good source of entertainment for those who like such type of content.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that rising crime and the suspense of solving cases attract audiences, and you give a positive opinion of crime fiction and dramas. The point about suspense is relevant, while your discussion of crime rates is less fully explained; the claim that crimes are now more frequent and planned would benefit from support or qualification. Your opinion is clear, especially when you say these programmes can build interest in investigation and increase awareness of unusual activity. However, the career benefit is asserted rather than illustrated, and the awareness argument could be developed with a specific example. Overall, the response covers the task, but some ideas are more developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and your opinion, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking phrases such as “For instance,” “Hence,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This organisation is effective, though some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “The reason behind why … because” repeats the same relationship, and “These crimes are more like a mystery” does not clearly explain how this follows from the claim that crimes are more frequent and planned. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To strengthen progression, make the relationship between each claim and its explanation more explicit, and use referencing that clearly identifies what “these crimes” refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “psychological reason,” “crime investigation,” “awareness,” and “suspense,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There is also some attempt to use more specific language about motives and crime-related content. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “crime,” “increasing,” and “people,” and several choices or forms are inaccurate: “getting famous” is not natural for programmes, while “telecast” and “documentries” are unsuitable or misspelled in this context. Spelling errors such as “drmas,” “carrer,” and “unusal” are noticeable. Aim for more precise collocations and proofread spelling; this will make your meaning smoother and more assured.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a purpose clause in “In order to understand the case deeply…” and a conditional idea in “The awareness may help…”. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships less clear. For example, “The reason behind why … because” has a faulty clause structure, and “it not help people” is missing an auxiliary verb. There are also problems with agreement and articles in “the purpose behind the crime were” and “understand and recognize unusal activities around them” (the latter phrase also needs a more suitable word choice). Work on forming complete clauses, matching subjects and verbs, and checking articles and verb forms. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
