Student answer (Band 6.0)
Crime novel and dramas are getting much popularity in many nations due to gripping storyline and unexpected plot twists. I also find crime fiction genre captivating as it enhances critical thinking and raises awareness, while it may trigger trauma and criminal behaviour in some.
Television crime shows or books are written in such a way that keeps audience or readers engaged from begining to end. The storyline, direction, plot twists, and some characters are portrayed in so realistic manner. Moreover, mystrey and crime investigation cases can be resonated with the real world, and some times movies such as Drishaam, and the lost girl are based on real life events. Audience love to watch out of their curiousity and these stories give insights of darker human psychology. These factors make crime genra famous among all generations.
In my opinion, crime fiction is top rated entertaining and thought-provoking genre that can raise criminal behaviour awareness and make think critically in real life. Crime petrol and CID are examples of television shows which worked as awareness sources for many people who are living in slum or voilence prone areas. However, these shows or books can not be useful for all time of audience as watching crime every moment can allure some vulnerable minds to commit crime. One case have been reported in India where robbers took ideas from money hiest and robbed a bank with full planning and flew with their team. Some fights, murders, or blood scenes might trigger past trauma in some.
In conclusion, although crime novels and dramas are entertaining and thought-provoking, excessive viwership can result in brainwash or mind alteration. It is better to watch such shows for enjoyment purpose; otherwise, we might see more real life crimes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address both parts of the prompt: you explain the appeal through gripping plots, realistic characters, curiosity and psychological insight, and give a clear, balanced opinion that crime fiction can entertain and raise awareness but may also have harmful effects. Examples such as Crime Patrol, CID and the bank robbery linked to Money Heist help support your view. This fits a response that covers the task and develops relevant ideas. Some claims, however, are broad or not fully explained—for instance, that the shows raise awareness among people in slum or violence-prone areas, and that viewing can lead to criminal behaviour. Explain the link and qualify these points more carefully to make the support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on popularity and your opinion, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, with some flexibility in how points are connected. At times, though, the links between claims are abrupt: the move from awareness to the bank robbery example, for instance, would benefit from an explicit explanation of how it supports your concern. Some sentences also contain several ideas at once, making the progression less smooth. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “gripping storyline,” “plot twists,” “critical thinking,” “darker human psychology” and “vulnerable minds.” These choices show an effort to express nuanced ideas about entertainment and possible risks. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors sometimes make the wording awkward or less precise, as in “mystrey,” “crime genra,” “top rated entertaining,” and “allure some vulnerable minds.” Repetition of “crime,” “shows” and “audience” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, such as “raise awareness of crime” and “a thought-provoking genre.” More precise phrasing will help your ideas sound natural and clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although crime novels and dramas are entertaining…” and a relative clause in “which worked as awareness sources.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms recur. For example, “that keeps audience or readers engaged” needs a plural or article, while “One case have been reported” has a subject–verb agreement error and an incorrect passive form. “Can make think critically” also lacks a clear object. These patterns show that complex ideas are being attempted, but control is not yet consistent. Practise checking each sentence for a complete subject and verb, correct agreement, and appropriate articles; then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
