Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people prefer to watch crime novels and TV crime dramas because most of them are based on real stories. Therefore, the popularity of crime shows is increasing day by day. This essay will include the reasons and relevant examples behind this trend with my personal opinion about this crime shows.
One of the main reasons why these books and TV shows are popular is that, it made with real life story which includes real drama, action, and suspense. Film makers know exactly how to keep audience engaged till the end of the movie. They spend lot of money for making crime shows by choosing great actors who can give their best and using advance VFX to make it more real. For example, there is a survey done by one famous action director called Chris Hemsworth which stats that people prefer more to watch crime shows rather than a romantic or a comedy films becuase of these reasons.
In my opinion, it is a positive sign that the popularity of crime dramas is increasing. These movies and books play an essential role to spread awareness about crime. People may become more alert and safety cautious after watching these movies. However, some crime movies should be age restricted because it may contain foul words and intimate scenes which can negatively influence the youth of the country. For instance, one can try to hurt or kill another person without any reasons after watching these movies because they don't realise that all the scenes in movies are fictional not actual.
To conclude, I would say real life stories and hard work done by film makers are the main reason why crime novels and TV dramas are becoming more aned more popular. Although, these movies give social message to the audience, some movies should be banned for under 18 years old.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you suggest that realistic stories, suspense, acting and visual effects attract audiences, and you give a clear positive view while noting that some content should be restricted for young viewers. The awareness and safety point is relevant, and the example about imitation explains your concern. However, the reasons for popularity are not fully developed: the claim that stories are based on real events is repeated, while the survey example is vague and does not clearly support the claim. Your opinion also shifts slightly from supporting the trend to calling for some films to be banned, without explaining how these positions fit together. Develop each main reason with a specific, credible explanation and clarify your qualification.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph explaining popularity, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “One of the main reasons,” “In my opinion,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the main stages. However, some links are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be clearer. For example, the first body paragraph moves from real-life stories to production budgets, actors, visual effects, and then a survey, without showing how each point connects. The conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between supporting points and make references such as “these movies” more precise when the paragraph includes both books and television dramas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “suspense,” “audience engaged,” “spread awareness,” and “age restricted,” which helps communicate your ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “VFX” and “safety cautious.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “crime novels” as something people “watch,” “real life story,” and “safety cautious.” Spelling errors such as “becuase” and “aned” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but more natural phrasing and careful proofreading would make the vocabulary more precise and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “it made with real life story” is missing an auxiliary and has an unclear singular/plural structure; “Film makers know” shifts into the present tense after a past-oriented explanation; and “some crime movies should be age restricted because it may contain” has a subject–pronoun agreement problem. The opening phrase “because most of them are based” also refers unclearly to books and shows. Check verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence punctuation, and revise longer sentences to ensure each clause has a clear subject and verb.
