Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, the high rate of crime novels and TV dramas has garnered significant attention. I believe this is due to the high rate of insecurity in the country . Personally, I believe that crime fiction and drama can be used as educational tools to creat awareness for the general public.

One major reason why crime related books and drama are increasingly popular is because of the high level of insecurity in the country. Novels and TV drama most atimes tend to adress the underlining issues of a country. which makes them in high demand. For example, citizens may want to engage in such movies or read articles concerning a particular crime in their area, which will force them to be security concious.

In my opinion,I stongly consider crime fiction and TV crime drama to be an educational tools in which movie industries use to create awearness on the current issues happening in a country. For example, parents may watch a movie with their kids, showing where a stranger came to pickup kids from school and ended up kidnapping them. These type of moviie on crime will make both the parents and their children be at alert, educating the kids not to go home with a random person from school as well as to the parents the importance of picking up your children from school early.

In conclusion, I believe crime reate in our nation enabled the popularity on crime movies and novels and I consider it a possive way of creating awareness for security purposes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that crime-related media attracts audiences because of insecurity, and you give a positive opinion, describing it as a way to educate the public. The examples about local crime and a child being approached by a stranger make your position relevant and understandable. However, the explanation of popularity is narrower and less developed than the discussion of educational value. The claim that crime media reflects “the underlining issues of a country” needs clearer explanation, and the response could consider other reasons people enjoy these stories, such as suspense or solving a mystery. Develop each reason with a more explicit link to audience interest, and clarify how your examples support your main points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the reason and your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “One major reason,” “In my opinion,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Novels and TV drama… address the underlying issues of a country. which makes them in high demand” breaks the relationship between the ideas into an incorrectly connected sentence. The conclusion repeats the main points without adding a clear synthesis. Use linking phrases to show cause and effect precisely, and make sure each paragraph develops one central idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “crime novels,” “insecurity,” “educational tools,” “kidnapping,” and “security purposes,” so the reader can understand the subject and your position. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “create awareness.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “creat,” “adress,” “stongly,” “awearness,” and “possive.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, including “high rate of crime novels” and “crime reate in our nation.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, such as describing the “popularity of crime dramas” or “concerns about public safety.” This would make your ideas clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a movie… showing where a stranger came to pickup kids” and a purpose construction with “to create awareness.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “which makes them in high demand” is an incomplete sentence, and “These type of movie… will make” has a mismatch between the plural demonstrative and singular noun. In “an educational tools,” the article and plural noun do not agree. Punctuation also needs attention, particularly the full stop before “which” and the missing space after “opinion,”. Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, and singular/plural forms, while continuing to practise complex sentences.
