Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, populace are finding interest in fictional shows as well as book based on crime. On account of, creating awareness and educating people about strategies to deal with such situation, this kind of television shows are vital in the society. However, I opine that these can sometimes be detrimental as well as beneficial to the community.

First and foremost, this drama series offers in-depth knowledge about offenses that are being occured in today's world. This education is of utmost importance for creating awareness in public. Through TV shows or books, individuals will acquire information about types of crimes they can face in their lives and strategies to overcome and defend againt them. This will not only enhance their safety towards the crime upto some extent but also, will help to built strong community to stand against the crime. For instance, one web series known as 'Delhi Crime' is based on true events and people are now aware about offenses that are in the world like rape, human trafficking and murder, through that drama, Also, people are now more aware about defence mechanism to carry out againt those foul acts.

Conversely, many individuals who are of ill mind; they sometimes tend to gain negative aspects from this. Some people will accept the bad things rather than the good ones. For example, many will learn different ways of commiting a crime despite knowing the harmful effects of it, not only to the society but to themselves also. Inspite of all this nuisance created by some people, there are good ones who opt for better things like creating awareness and receiving good things from this kind of drama series.

In conclusion, to enhance knowledge about crimes and strategies to fight against it, people like to watch crime dramas and read book on those topics. However, some individuals gain wrong core from this and end up committing an offense, but, this deleterious works can be mitigated by enforcements of stricter laws against it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain that crime stories attract audiences by raising awareness and offering information about crime, and you give a balanced opinion that they can help society but may also encourage harmful behaviour. The example of *Delhi Crime* makes the first point more concrete. However, the explanation of popularity is narrower than the question invites: suspense, curiosity about investigations, or the appeal of solving a mystery could also be discussed. The negative effect is asserted through the example of people learning to commit crimes, but it is not developed with a specific illustration or explanation. Your position is clear, though the conclusion’s suggestion of stricter laws is not fully connected to the earlier discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a contrasting paragraph on risks, and a conclusion. The progression from “First and foremost” to “Conversely” helps readers follow the main contrast, and examples are placed alongside the relevant claims. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening “On account of” does not form a complete or natural link to the preceding sentence, while “Inspite of all this nuisance” introduces a contrast that is difficult to follow. The final paragraph repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To improve, make each paragraph develop one central idea and use referencing and transitions that clearly show how each sentence relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “in-depth knowledge,” “human trafficking,” “defence mechanism,” and “detrimental.” These choices show an effort to discuss crime and its effects beyond basic terms. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “populace are finding interest,” “strong community,” “gain wrong core,” and “deleterious works.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “occured,” “againt,” and “commiting,” also reduce precision. The meaning is generally recoverable, but the repeated awkward phrasing limits flexibility and sometimes makes the reader pause. Aim to learn common word partnerships in context, and choose straightforward, accurate expressions when a more ambitious phrase is uncertain.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “who,” “despite,” and “not only…but also.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors occur across sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “On account of, creating awareness…” is an incomplete construction; “offenses that are being occured” has an incorrect verb form; and “people like to watch crime dramas and read book” has a number-agreement error. Some long sentences also contain several clauses joined unclearly, particularly the *Delhi Crime* example. Work on complete sentence patterns and check verb forms, singular/plural agreement, and punctuation when editing.
