Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify several plausible reasons for the popularity of crime fiction: it may raise awareness of incidents, offer suspense, and draw interest through stories based on real events. However, these points are only briefly stated, and the response does not explain them with examples or supporting detail. The task also asks for your opinion of crime novels and dramas, but you do not clearly say whether you enjoy, value, or dislike them. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, which leaves both parts of the question largely undeveloped. To improve, state your opinion directly, explain each reason, and add a relevant example, such as how a particular storyline keeps viewers engaged or what practical lesson it might teach.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence of separate points, signalled by “Also” and a final comment about suspense and true-life stories. This gives the reader some sense of how your ideas relate to the question. However, the points are presented as short, disconnected statements, and there is no introduction, developed body structure, or conclusion. The relationship between “awareness” and “ways to tackle” problems is not explained, while the sentence about characters and confidence is left without a clear link to the overall argument. Use paragraphs to group reasons, connect each claim to an explanation or example, and finish with a clear statement of your opinion. A wider range of accurate linking phrases would also help the progression feel less abrupt.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “consequences,” “characters,” “suspense,” and “thriller,” and these choices show an effort to discuss crime entertainment rather than relying only on very basic terms. However, several spelling errors and imprecise expressions make parts of the message difficult to interpret, such as “confidance,” “curoistly,” and “truth benhind yhe story.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “tackle from any problem” and “characters which go through difficult time.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations, for example, “deal with a problem” and “characters who overcome difficult circumstances.” More precise topic vocabulary, such as “investigation” or “plot twist,” could help you explain your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You use mostly short sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect ideas, such as “Through these crime dramas people know…” and “Most of these crime based on true life…”. The meaning of some statements can be inferred, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “One of the important reason” needs plural agreement, and “incidents happen in the society” lacks a suitable verb form and article. The final sentence also has no main verb after “Most of these crime.” Sentence structures remain limited, so the response does not yet show a reliable range of accurate forms. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, agreement, articles, and relative clauses; then combine related ideas using structures such as “because” or “which” while checking each sentence for a clear verb.
