Student answer (Band 4.0)
In many countries today ,crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. This is mostly common simply because social media platforms are free for freedom expressions and the Government has not yet implemented law to abide and control the activities that are posted here. Some of the activities that are posted in these platforms are dangeruos to human life and many of these activities are inhuman.
It is so common in the life of today because most youths are very desperate and lacks jobs hence pushing them to use these various online platforms to help them make both ends meet.In novel crimes dramas ,writers have lacked enough content and they think that they can earn a living by creating and posting crime dramas on novels.
On TV crime dramas ,they find it easier for them to market and attract audience because it seems real and live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response makes an attempt to explain popularity, mentioning social media, young people seeking income, and the realism of television dramas. However, it largely misinterprets the question: it discusses how crime-related content is posted online rather than why crime novels and TV crime dramas attract audiences. The second part—your opinion of these books and programmes—is not answered at all, and the ideas offered are not supported with relevant examples. The response contains 133 words, which is 117 words below the required minimum; the 16 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To improve, address both questions directly, state a clear personal view, and develop each reason with an explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the opening introduces a cause, and later sentences refer separately to novels and television. Some linking is also present, such as “hence” and “because.” However, the ideas do not progress clearly from the question, and the connection between social media, unemployment, and the popularity of crime fiction is difficult to follow. The response is also a single paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the explanation of popularity from your opinion. Use separate paragraphs for the two task questions, and connect each reason to audience interest with clear transitions and references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “crime dramas,” “writers,” “audience,” and “market,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations make the intended meaning unclear. For example, “free for freedom expressions” does not clearly describe the role of social media, while “make both ends meet” is not well connected to why audiences enjoy crime stories. There are also spelling errors such as “dangeruos.” Build a more precise vocabulary for audience appeal—such as suspense, mystery, plot, and characters—and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence with “because” and one using “hence,” and the main topic can generally be understood. However, control is inconsistent. In “most youths are very desperate and lacks jobs,” the plural subject requires “lack”; “the Government has not yet implemented law” needs an article or plural form; and the opening has missing spaces after punctuation. Some sentence structures are also awkward, particularly “In novel crimes dramas, writers have lacked enough content.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then reread each sentence to check that its grammatical structure expresses the intended relationship.
