Student answer (Band 5.5)

According to some countries, offensive shows and books are more popular. There are several reasons for this popularity that will put forward in the following paragraphs as well as an analysis.

Awareness: these shows depicts the real scenario of society. Which brings awareness and encourage people to take precautions. There are various shows in Indian television such as, Crime patrol, Satarak. The illustrate the crime scene and advice viewers, how to take possible steps to stay safe from crimes. Moreover, It shows the technological advancement ways like, I.P. address tracker, Finger print recognition, security cameras and high tech-lock. This gives knowledge about growth of technology.

I believe these shows not only provide valuable information but also a source of entertainment. The animation, background sounds controls the suspense level of viewers and make it interesting to watch on daily basis. Although, this approach might give some ideas to criminals on how to espace cleverly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both questions to some extent: you suggest that crime programmes raise awareness and provide entertainment, and you express a generally positive view while noting that criminals might learn from them. However, the response is substantially under the required length, so the reasons and your opinion remain limited and under-developed. The examples of Indian programmes and technologies are relevant, but you do not explain how they demonstrate viewers’ interest or give a specific example of their impact. Your opinion is also only briefly stated rather than clearly developed. To strengthen the response, explain several reasons for the genre’s popularity, support each with examples, and expand your evaluation to consider both benefits and possible drawbacks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: an opening introduces the topic, the paragraph beginning “Awareness” gives one reason, and the next paragraph presents your view and a drawback. Basic links such as “Moreover” and “Although” help show relationships between ideas. However, the progression is limited, and the label “Awareness” does not function smoothly as a paragraph topic sentence. Some connections are unclear, particularly “There are several reasons for this popularity that will put forward … as well as an analysis,” which promises more than the response delivers. The fragment “Which brings awareness” also interrupts the flow. Use a clear introduction, separate paragraphs for distinct reasons and your opinion, and linking phrases that make each idea’s relationship explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “precautions,” “suspense,” “finger print recognition,” and “security cameras,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “technological advancement.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “offensive shows,” “real scenario of society,” and “controls the suspense level.” “Offensive” suggests something insulting or objectionable, rather than crime-related. Spelling and form errors such as “espace” and “Satarak” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural phrases for discussing audience appeal, such as “gripping plot” and “investigative storyline,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some simple sentences and attempts to use more complex structures, for example, “Although, this approach might give some ideas to criminals on how to espace cleverly.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur often enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. “These shows depicts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Which brings awareness” is an incomplete sentence. In “The illustrate the crime scene,” the subject is unclear and the verb form is incorrect. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation, as in “The animation, background sounds controls.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and punctuation when combining clauses.
