Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, crime novels and television dramas are becoming too popular in many parts of the world. I believe they are popular because they provide entertainment, and i think they can be enjoyable as long as people do not watch too much violent content.
To start with, there are a plenty of reasons why the crime dramas are becoming popular towrads people. The first and foremeost reason is that they create suspense. To elaborate, viewers are always curious to discover the identity of the criminal. As a result, they remain interested in the story until the final episode. For example, many people watch several episodes of a detective series beacause they want to konw how the mistery will be solved. Secondly, people love to watch these programmes just to relax after work. For example, i love to watch these dramas after my work beacuse it gives me a relaxation vibes like it develops the thinking skills as i try to solve the story by myself but sometimes when the story goes beyond my thinking it gives me not only a shock but also happiness.
However, these kind of books and dramas can have some negative effects because the crime dramas sometimes contain excessive violence. To justify, whenever children watch these types of dramas then they find difficulty to find the difference between real life and dramas and sometimes they feel scared whenever they go to be.
To conclude, i would say that there are several reasons that why crime novels and dramas are becoming popular day by day. In my opinion, it contains both advantages and disadvantages. So, people should choose the crime shows which contains less violence and they should stay aware between the diffrence between dramas life and real life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: you explain popularity through suspense and relaxation, and give a qualified opinion that crime fiction can be enjoyable but may expose children to excessive violence. The examples about viewers wanting to identify the criminal and your own after-work viewing make the reasons relevant. Your position is present from the introduction to the conclusion, although the phrase “both advantages and disadvantages” is less precise than your earlier view. Some points are developed more fully than others: suspense is explained clearly, while the possible effects on children are asserted briefly without an example or further explanation. To strengthen the response, develop that concern and make your final judgement more definite.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to reasons for popularity, a paragraph on possible harm, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To start with,” “Secondly,” and “However” help readers follow the main stages. The progression is generally logical, but some linking is mechanical, and connections within the long personal example are difficult to track. For instance, the sentence beginning “For example, i love to watch…” combines relaxation, thinking skills, surprise, and happiness without clearly separating the ideas. References such as “these kind of books and dramas” are also not always clear or accurate. Use shorter units for distinct points and link each example directly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “suspense,” “identity of the criminal,” “detective series,” and “excessive violence.” There are also attempts at more expressive phrasing, such as “the story will be solved,” though some combinations are unnatural or imprecise. Examples include “a relaxation vibes,” “gives me a shock,” and “stay aware between the difference”; these can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Spelling errors such as “foremeost,” “beacause,” and “mistery” are noticeable, and repeated use of “popular,” “people,” and “dramas” limits variety. Build a more accurate range of collocations and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “whenever,” and “as,” and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation recur. For example, “there are a plenty of reasons” has an unnecessary article, while “these kind of books” does not match in number. In “it gives me a relaxation vibes,” the pronoun and verb do not agree with the plural noun phrase. The long sentence about watching after work also joins several ideas in a way that weakens grammatical control. Capitalisation of “I” and sentence boundaries need attention. Practise accurate agreement and article use, and divide complex ideas into controlled sentences.
