Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays in many nations, books and TV shows realted to offence are on hype. There are many reasons behind its popularity which we will discuss in upcoming crumbs of writing. Also, I will share my point of view on this notion.

To commence with, these dramas and novels spread awareness among public. In most of serials they show that what kind of crimes are there in society. Generally makers seek the attention of public by making these very interseting. Moreover, they educate people that crime is not murder only. There are crimes related to cybersecurity, racism and gender inequality. For instance, CID is a very popular TV show in India, almost every indian knows about it beacuse of its storyline. Everytime they come with a new criminal activity which creates a suspense in audience and then at end of every episode they give a message that if this situation come to you how to taclke this.

Furthermore, in my opinion these shows are good and need to be popular because they educate people about different offensive cases. Also, they boost the knowledge of common public. To cite an example, I have read in a newspaper that how a lady exposed a kidnappers gang she told that she read a novel where it was written that how kidnappers kidnap young children then make them disable and left them in markets for begging. So, one day she found some kids outside a temple who are physically disabled and when she enquired whole situation she called police and found that those children were disappeared from different cities and there parents were still finding them.

In conclusion, These dramas and writings are popular because they spread wareness and teach people how to be alert from these crimes,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain that crime stories attract audiences by creating suspense and raising awareness, and you give a positive opinion of them. The examples of the Indian series CID and the newspaper story help make your position clear. The response meets the task overall, but some points are not fully developed. For example, the claim that these programmes educate the public could be explained more precisely, such as how viewers might recognise warning signs or understand crime prevention. The kidnapping example is relevant, though its long account focuses more on the incident than on explaining how crime fiction influenced the woman. A clearer link between that example and your opinion would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from reasons for popularity to your opinion, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this movement. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few references are unclear. In “There are many reasons behind its popularity,” “its” does not clearly refer to the plural books and shows. The second body paragraph also contains a very long sentence recounting the newspaper example, which makes the sequence of events harder to follow. Divide this account into shorter sentences and use clearer links to show how each detail supports your point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “cybersecurity,” “gender inequality,” “criminal activity” and “suspense,” and these terms help convey relevant ideas. There is also an attempt to vary expression with phrases such as “spread awareness” and “boost the knowledge.” However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “on hype,” “upcoming crumbs of writing,” “offence” for the intended general topic, and “taclke” are examples. Some phrases, including “alert from these crimes,” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling carefully; a smaller set of well-controlled topic words will be more effective than unusual phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because,” “that” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation recur, particularly in the long example. For instance, “they show that what kind of crimes are there” has an awkward clause structure, while “if this situation come to you” has a verb-form error. In “a lady exposed a kidnappers gang she told,” two independent ideas run together without suitable punctuation or a linking structure. Practise forming indirect questions, checking subject–verb agreement, and breaking long sentences into controlled clauses. More accurate sentence construction would make your ideas easier to follow.
