Student answer (Band 6.0)
There has been a growing trend that has been seen in many countries that TV crime dramas and crime novels are being demanding among the viewers. I believe these books and TV shows are being popular because of its gripping story and the human nature to respond to crimes. Moreover, I believe that these shows creates awarness about various crime rings that could operate around the world and warns us to be vigilant.
Firstly, I believe these books and TV shows have a unique way of storytelling that forces its audience to be on the edge of their seat while unfolding the suspense of their story. I believe storytelling plays a vital role in this because viewers get attached to the story by the way it is presented to them. For example, there is one of the greatest shows called " The Mentalist " in which the protagonist deals with criminals in every episode but its unique storytelling makes it interesting to watch and audience gets hooked to it.
Moreover, I truly believe that these shows and novels help people get knowledge about different crimes and depicts its viewers how to respond in the situation where one becomes a victim. Hence, people get idea about how some stranger with ill motives would strike a conversation with us and how to defend ourselves from such situation. For example, one of the show called "The Rookie" shows its viewer how to handle a situation where you are being followed and what measure to apply before seeking help. However, people with crocked mentality can get inspiration for these novels and shows and get encouraged to commit crimes.
Finally, these novels and shows have very nice storyline and good composition which makes it famous among audiences. Authors and directors tries to convey awerness with their creation, however some people might get wrong idea from it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you explain popularity through suspenseful storytelling and audience interest in crime, and you give a generally positive view while noting that some viewers could misuse what they see. The examples of The Mentalist and The Rookie make the discussion relevant. However, your opinion is clearest in the introduction and conclusion, while the body mainly explains possible benefits rather than evaluating crime fiction more fully. The claim that these programmes teach viewers how to respond to danger is broad and would benefit from a specific, realistic example or qualification, since fictional portrayals may not always be reliable guidance. Develop the potential negative influence as well, and make your overall judgement more explicit and consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two main points, and a concluding paragraph. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “Finally” help readers follow the progression, and examples are placed alongside the relevant ideas. This coherent structure meets the expectations of this level. To move further, make the links between ideas more precise and avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions. The final paragraph repeats that crime stories have “very nice storyline and good composition” rather than drawing together the reasons and your opinion. Also clarify references such as “these shows” and “it” where the antecedent is not immediately clear, and connect the caution about criminal inspiration more explicitly to your overall evaluation.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “gripping story,” “suspense,” “protagonist,” “criminals,” and “ill motives.” These choices help communicate your ideas, and terms such as “on the edge of their seat” add some variety. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural choices that keep the vocabulary from being consistently precise: “being demanding” does not express popularity, “crocked mentality” is not the intended phrase, and “convey awerness” contains a spelling error. “Good composition” is also vague in this context. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise language for audience appeal and public awareness would make your points clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “because,” “while,” and “where,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors recur, however. For example, “these shows creates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Authors and directors tries” should use a plural verb. In “because of its gripping story,” the pronoun does not agree with the plural subject, and “audience gets hooked” needs an article or plural form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly around the quoted programme titles. Review agreement, articles, and pronoun reference, then proofread each sentence; improving these patterns would make your varied structures more controlled.
