Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the prompt: curiosity is offered as a reason for the genre’s popularity, and you give a positive opinion, describing crime dramas as “pleasurable and thrilling.” The examples of Crime Patrol, CID and Verity help make the response relevant. However, the explanation of curiosity is repeated rather than extended, and the point about trailers is only briefly stated; explain more clearly how suspense, clues or character motives keep audiences engaged. Your opinion is clear, but it focuses mainly on enjoyment and could be developed by considering another aspect, such as whether these stories are also intellectually engaging or sometimes unrealistic. Overall, the task is covered, though some ideas are less fully developed than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining popularity, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “To exemplify” and “To recapitulate” signal relationships between ideas. The organisation is generally effective, but some connections feel mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction and earlier points rather than drawing them together. There is also some unclear referencing in phrases such as “this type of dramas” and “this ongoing trend,” which makes the links between ideas less precise. To strengthen the progression, use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph develop a distinct point with clear references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “crime novels,” “curiosity,” “thrilling experience” and “traits of the criminal.” These choices make your subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “crime serials,” “becoming more and more famous,” “give them curiosity” and “immense pleasure.” There are also word-form or spelling problems, including “parapraghs,” “fascinated” where a description of trailers is intended, and “exciting” for people’s feelings. These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for familiar, accurate collocations such as “crime dramas are gaining popularity” and “build suspense” before attempting more elaborate phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a relative clause beginning “who.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “One of the crucial reason” needs a plural noun, “people are indulge” has an incorrect verb form, and “when a person watch” does not agree in number. In “it give them curiosity,” the verb form is also incorrect. The opening sentence “There are several reasons for these books and TV dramas are becoming popular” combines structures incorrectly. Practise subject–verb agreement and the patterns after “reasons,” and check each sentence for a clear, complete grammatical structure.
