Student answer (Band 6.0)
Crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming highly popular in most of the countries due to their high-level suspense. Although these shows are highly popular in many countries, I believe that such kinds of shows should be limited because it has a negative impact on the audience.
To begin with, crime novels and Tv dramas have a significant number of viewers in many countries because of their hidden suspense in the stories. This is because such kinds of shows contain criminal fictious stories, which is truly based on finding a criminal. Therefore, people tend to wait for the end to find the culprit. Moreover, most of the times, audience tend to solve the mystery on their own, which makes it more interesting for them to watch. For example, a show India called Crime Petrol is completely basesd on crime, which has a high-level suspense behind solving the cases. As a result, people tend to watch the complete show to find the real culprit, and match with their guessed one.
On the other hand, some people believe that these kinds of shows have a negative impact on the viewers. This is because crime novels and TV shows are based on crime such as theft, robbery and murder, which indirectly influences peple to adapt these behaviours. People who are dealing with problems such as unemployment, family relationships might get influenced and adapt this behavior. Additionally, these stories often describe ways to not get caught by the Police. Therefore, criminals might get help to not get caught after watching these stories. For example, a theif can watch every episode of Tv crime dramas for his next robbery. As a result, he might stay hidden from the Police for a long time.
In conclusion, although crime dramas have a huge audience, I believe that these shows should be limited for the people to watch. This is because these shows contain explicit contents, which can influence public to choose such behaviors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the prompt: suspense and the pleasure of guessing the culprit explain the genre’s popularity, while your view is that these programmes should be limited because they may influence viewers. The India-based example helps make the popularity point concrete. This meets the task well, and the position is clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, the explanation of harmful influence is less fully developed: the claims about people facing unemployment or family problems and criminals learning how to evade police are asserted rather than supported with evidence or a carefully explained link. To strengthen the response, qualify these broad claims and develop one example in more depth, while keeping the distinction between fictional entertainment and real-world effects clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph explaining popularity, one presenting concerns, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “This is because,” “Therefore,” and “As a result.” Some references are also unclear or awkward, such as “these stories” after several different ideas, and the example about a thief repeats the preceding claim rather than extending it. Use a wider range of linking methods, make pronoun references precise, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “suspense,” “culprit,” “mystery,” “robbery,” and “influences,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “solve the mystery on their own.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “criminal fictious stories,” “high-level suspense,” “adapt these behaviours,” and “match with their guessed one” are awkward or inaccurate. Spelling slips such as “basesd,” “peple,” and “theif” also reduce control. Build a more reliable range of collocations and check spelling; for example, describe viewers as “trying to identify the culprit” rather than “match with their guessed one.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “although.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the paragraph structure helps the reader follow your argument. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “these shows … it has a negative impact” shifts from plural to singular, while “a show India called” is missing a preposition and has an awkward clause structure. In “audience tend to solve,” the noun needs an appropriate determiner or plural form. Review agreement and article use, and proofread sentence boundaries: “stories.Stories” needs a space after the full stop. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences clearer.
