Student answer (Band 5.0)
In today's world, shows based on crime or criminal related are gaining massive amount of popularity. Honestly, I like them and there are many reasons behind this raising trend in many countries today.
First of all, boom in young generation, to eleborate this, there are gap in percentage of people among different age categories. For example, during 20th century people above the age of fifity were equal to the people of younger generations but in 21st century it decreased at a sharp rate and on the other side young age group percentage has increasing at a alarming rate. As a result, youngsters like watching exciting, drama, crime love romance etc. Therefore, this trend is gaining more limelight in all over the world.
Moreover, technology is also another reason of making these dramas more and more popular. People can easily access internet in a cheap price and relibility of subtitles and other streaming platform are making it easier for people to watch these shows. Furthermore, social media also plays a important role via sharing reels, shorts etc, which is pushing people to explore these shows.
In conclusion, technolgy, social media and boom in yound generation are the main causes of these novels and crime dramas are becoming more and more popular.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several reasons for the popularity of crime dramas, especially technology, social media and the growth of younger audiences, and you state that you like these programmes. However, the response addresses the task only partially: your opinion is not explained beyond “Honestly, I like them,” and the reasons are not sufficiently supported with relevant examples. The discussion of changing age-group percentages is difficult to follow and does not clearly show why younger viewers prefer crime fiction. The response is also 202 words, below the required 250 words; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. Develop your opinion and explain each reason with a clear example to address all parts more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your answer. However, progression within the first body paragraph is unclear: the discussion moves from population percentages to young people’s viewing preferences without explaining the connection. The conclusion repeats the listed causes rather than bringing the ideas together or returning to your opinion. Some linking is mechanical, and the opening fragment “First of all, boom in young generation” makes the paragraph difficult to follow. Use topic sentences that state one clear point, then explain and support it before moving to the next idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “streaming platform,” “subtitles,” “social media,” and “crime dramas,” and phrases such as “gaining massive amount of popularity” show an attempt to express emphasis. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For example, “boom in young generation” does not clearly describe the demographic change you intend, while “gaining more limelight” is an awkward expression in this context. There are also spelling errors, including “eleborate,” “fifity,” “relibility,” and “technolgy.” Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling; for instance, explain that online access and social-media recommendations expose viewers to crime programmes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to connect ideas, as in “People can easily access internet in a cheap price and relibility of subtitles and other streaming platform are making it easier for people to watch these shows.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. Examples include the fragment “First of all, boom in young generation,” the agreement error “there are gap,” and “young age group percentage has increasing.” Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “a important role.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, verb forms and articles when revising.
