Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the prompt: you suggest that crime stories are thrilling, entertaining, and can raise awareness, and you give a clear opinion that some content may harm young viewers. The recommendation for age restrictions also makes your position apparent. However, the reasons are not developed evenly. The claim that viewers learn how to deal with crime-related situations needs an example or explanation, and the point about books being “not boring” is too general to show why they appeal to readers. Your concern about young people is more developed, but could be balanced with a clearer view of crime fiction for adults. Extending these ideas with specific examples would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and the main ideas are generally grouped by topic. However, progression is weakened by repetitive and sometimes mechanical linking: “Secondly” appears to introduce different points, while “Moreover” and “which is why” recur without always clarifying how ideas relate. The first body paragraph also combines several reasons in one long sequence, making the explanation harder to follow. References such as “these kind of shows” and “it” are not always clear. Give each paragraph a distinct focus, use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas, and make pronoun references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “thrilling,” “entertaining,” “traumatic,” “sensitive content,” and “age restricted.” This gives you enough language to communicate your main points. However, the range is limited by repeated phrases such as “these kind of shows” and “negative effect,” and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “people are relate,” “keep watchers hooked to the shows,” and “should not contain such contents.” Spelling errors such as “Intially” and “situatuions” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for audience appeal and potential harm, and check collocations and word forms when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example the opening contrast introduced by “however” and the explanation beginning “because it is sometimes really thrilling.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences joined by semicolons and multiple connectors. Errors include “these books and Tv show are,” “people are relate,” and “it keep’s audience,” where agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in the long first body paragraph. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and separating connected ideas into clear sentences; then check articles, plurals, and punctuation during revision.
