Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is no doubt that individulas are showing more curiosity in criminal activites either by watching crime scene shows or reading novel related to it. I believe that doing this not only makes them aware about illict activities commited in their surroundings but also improves their critical thinking. I personally believe that there must be limit of watching and reading about criminal activities as it can make people more suspecious in real life.
To begin with, the reasons why crime dramas have attained more popularity thesedays. Firstly, spreading awareness among people. To clarify it, while watching these television shows they come across various types of offences which are commited by wrong doers. Hence, it will help them to take some preventive measures. For example, if more theft is taken place, they can avoid going out in late night, keep the main doors closed and always make sure who is at door prior to opening it.
Moreover, reading crime novel comes in immensely handy to increase the imagination power and critical thinking. To explain it, when these novels are read by people, they would definitely start imagine the whole story and build up all the characters in their minds. Along with this, they always make predictions while reading such as what could happen next and who had done this offense and so on. Ultimately, it helps in boosting their critical thinking.
In my opinion, I deem that although there are several driving forces which allure humans to watch and read about criminal acts, they should not waste all of their precious free time in doing so. Instead, time can be spent on sports, with family or in learning something new which would put positive impact on their life. Furtheremore, relying more on illegal acts sometimes wash up our mind and force to be suspicious towards everything that can be dangerous for everybody.
In conclusion, eventhough spending time on watching crime scene related shows disemminate awareness among dwellers, I strongly recommend that there had better be a limit; so, they can avoid wasting time more time which can be shell out on doing something more edifying.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions: you explain popularity through awareness of crime and the imaginative, problem-solving appeal of novels, then give a clear view that consumption should be limited. The examples about securing doors and predicting a culprit make the reasons relevant and show the beginnings of effective support. However, the two explanations are not equally developed: the awareness point is illustrated, while the appeal of crime dramas themselves is less fully explored, and the opinion focuses mainly on time use and suspicion rather than evaluating the genre more broadly. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely what makes crime stories engaging—for example, suspense, puzzles, or the resolution of a mystery—and develop how their benefits and risks shape your overall judgement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs explaining reasons, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages, and each paragraph has a recognisable focus. Some linking is mechanical, however, particularly the repeated “To clarify it” and “To explain it,” while the opening sentence of the first body paragraph is a fragment rather than a complete transition into the reason. References such as “doing so” and “it” are occasionally broad. For stronger progression, use fewer formulaic signposts and connect each example directly to the claim it supports, with clearer references to crime fiction or television dramas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “preventive measures,” “critical thinking,” “predictions,” and “suspicious,” and your meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common or emphatic expressions, such as “driving forces” and “immensely handy.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “criminal activities” where “crime” would be more natural, “wash up our mind,” and “shell out on doing something.” Spelling errors such as “individulas,” “thesedays,” and “Furtheremore” also reduce control. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than ornate phrasing: for example, say that crime stories “raise awareness” or “make viewers more wary,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including the contrast in “although there are several driving forces…” and the conditional example beginning “if more theft is taken place.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening “the reasons why crime dramas have attained more popularity thesedays” is a sentence fragment, and “they start imagine” needs an infinitive marker. There are also problems with verb forms and agreement in “if more theft is taken place” and “who had done this offense,” as well as article and number choices in “reading crime novel.” Work on complete sentence construction and check verb patterns, tense consistency, and singular/plural forms. More accurate control of these structures would make your varied sentences easier to read.
