Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniable that entertainment plays a vital role in human life. Nowadays, in many nations, crime novels and criminal dramas on television are widely liked by viewers. Due to suspense of the story criminal dramas are more popular. However, from my perspective, this trend create negative impacts among youth.
In a current time, instead of romantic movies people prefered to watch criminal stories. To elaborate, crime fiction and TV shows are more famous because of suspense of the story. Which engaging viewers till the end. This shows maninly focus on why ?, who?, where? the incident happend and what are the steps taken to catch the villain. To quote an instance, a "Kala Pani" an Indian criminal series recieved huge praise from their fanbase, in fact director of the story got best popular series of the year award.
Although criminal shows are attractive, watching such stories create negative results in the society. To explain further, this kind of movies spread fear not only in children but also in sensetive people. Many criminals learn trick from the shows and take precautions to avoid risks. Moreover, youngsters behave differently and aggresively with their siblings after reading such story. To give an example, a police man reported that 80% of robber cover CCTV first and also wear mask to avoid catching their face into camara.
To conclude, because of suspense in the story, criminal shows are famous in the recent time. Even though this trend has some benefits, drawback of watching criminal dramas are more. Thus people should maintain boundry of watching such movies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions: suspense is given as the reason for the genre’s popularity, and you state that its effects on young people make the trend concerning. The explanation of suspense is relevant and the example of the Indian series helps illustrate its appeal. Your opinion is also clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, the response focuses mainly on negative effects, so your overall view of crime fiction and dramas is not fully balanced or explored; the possible benefits are mentioned only briefly. Some supporting claims, such as the report that 80% of robbers cover CCTV, need clearer context or explanation. Developing the reasons and examples more carefully would make the response more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on popularity and negative effects, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To elaborate,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of your argument. This gives the essay a coherent progression. At times, however, linking is mechanical, and some connections between sentences are unclear. For example, “Which engaging viewers till the end” is a fragment rather than a smoothly connected explanation, while “Although criminal shows are attractive” does not clearly connect the popularity point to the effects that follow. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting example explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “suspense,” “villain,” “precautions,” and “negative impacts,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to use more specific expressions, such as “fanbase” and “avoid risks.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “criminal dramas” and “criminal stories” recur where “crime dramas” or “crime fiction” would sound more natural, and “spread fear” is imprecise in this context. Spelling errors such as “maninly,” “happend,” “sensetive,” and “camara” also weaken control. Aim for accurate, natural combinations of words and proofread spelling, rather than relying on repeated general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a reason clause with “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Which engaging viewers till the end” is an incomplete sentence, and “this trend create negative impacts” has a subject–verb agreement error. Other examples include “watching such stories create” and “drawback … are more,” where agreement is faulty. The sentence beginning “This shows mainly focus on why” is also structurally unclear. Work on complete sentence construction, agreement, and accurate clause formation; then check punctuation and sentence boundaries so that complex ideas remain easy to understand.
