Student answer (Band 5.5)

Stories about criminal stories are becoming increasingly popular over the few decades. There are many popular reasons for this but the two that I can see is the desire in people to see good overcoming evil and fascination with criminal lifestyle. In this essay I will be discussing why is this happening more often and will also provide my opinion.

To begin with, firstly, in todays date people are publishing or making movies, series and also serials where the main lead shows his intellect and skill to identify the criminal detective evil mastermind. For instance, K.D Pathak its an story of an advocate which shows how he catches the person by using his mind and wins every case.

Not only this but also, people are fascinated with the lives of criminals. There is an movie made on criminals success journey that has crossed over 2.5M views in just three days.It resembles how an evil build an empire by doing no good to others instead upseting and attacking them for their own benefits. Being wrong and still having luxury like an harworking and smart person of the society attracks people to watch more such theatre stories.

However, on personal level, I believe this is not something to be liked as it raises many question in the society. For instance,is he doing it for only money? or are they motivated by power or what causes them to join gangs and do these deeds.

To encapsulate all, the two fascinating reasons I have discussed in the two paragraphs about the people interest. On the other hand, I believe we should watch more realistic or histrical documentation movies and series to have good taste in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you suggest that audiences enjoy seeing good defeat evil and are fascinated by criminals’ lives, then state that you do not approve of the genre. The examples of K.D. Pathak and a film about criminals help illustrate these points. However, the reasons are only partly explained: for example, you do not clarify why viewers find the criminals’ success or lifestyle compelling. Your opinion is also brief and somewhat unclear; the questions about criminals’ motives raise issues but do not explain why you think crime fiction should not be liked. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and make your evaluation more direct and consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two paragraphs about popularity, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Not only this but also,” and “However” help signal the stages of your argument. However, some transitions are mechanical or repetitive, particularly “To begin with, firstly,” and the conclusion mainly repeats the reasons rather than drawing the discussion together. Connections within paragraphs can also be unclear: the example about a criminal building an empire is not fully linked to why audiences enjoy crime stories. Use fewer formulaic signposts and make the relationship between each claim, explanation, and example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “criminal lifestyle,” “evil mastermind,” “intellect,” and “fascinated,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make parts difficult to understand. “Stories about criminal stories” is repetitive, “in todays date” is not idiomatic, and “an harworking and smart person” appears to express a comparison but is unclear. Spelling errors such as “attracks,” “upseting,” and “histrical” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing audience appeal and moral questions, and check spelling and collocations. Prefer natural phrases such as “crime dramas” and “the appeal of criminal characters.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including “There is an movie made on criminals success journey that has crossed over 2.5M views in just three days.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “the two that I can see is,” “I will be discussing why is this happening,” and “an story of an advocate,” which show problems with agreement, word order, and articles. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “three days.It resembles” and “For instance,is he doing it.” Practise forming indirect questions, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and separating sentences correctly. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
