Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify one possible reason for the popularity of crime content—advertising on social media—and give a clear concern about children’s exposure to it. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it does not explain other possible reasons for the genre’s appeal, and your opinion is limited to its potential effect on children rather than crime fiction and dramas more generally. The example about YouTube is started but left unfinished, so it does not support the point. The response is also 120 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the ideas. To improve, answer both questions directly, explain each reason, and support your overall view with a complete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic progression: an opening statement introduces the topic, followed by a paragraph explaining advertising and its possible influence. Phrases such as “One of the particular reason includes” signal a new point, but the development is interrupted by the unfinished example, “For example, On youtube people see various advertisements with”. As a result, the reader cannot see how the example connects to the claim. The opening also moves quickly from popularity to children’s wellbeing without a clear link between these ideas. Use separate paragraphs for the reasons and your opinion, and connect each claim to a completed explanation or example. This would create a clearer overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “criminal stories,” “advertisements,” “audience,” and “detrimental effect,” which helps communicate the subject and your concern. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “developing stage of their life.” However, several expressions are awkward or imprecise, including “day by day popularity,” “television movies related to criminal stories,” and “similar type of content.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less natural, though the main ideas remain understandable. Aim for more conventional collocations and precise terms for the genre and its audience. A broader set of vocabulary for suspense, entertainment, curiosity, and social influence would also help you explain why crime stories attract viewers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If several times of a day, a person come across… then mind can convinced…”. However, this sentence contains several grammatical problems that make it difficult to follow: the subject–verb agreement is incorrect, the passive construction is incomplete, and the conditional is not formed clearly. Other examples include “One of the particular reason,” where the noun should be plural, and “it can have detrimental effect,” which needs an article. The range is limited, and errors recur in agreement, articles, and verb forms. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses once the basic structure is secure.
