Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to inform you about the work posting, I am interested to do part time voluntary work in museum its a long time since I did any voluntary work from last couple years. I would appreciate your assistance in this work.
To begin with, I would like to do free work at the museum because its been many years I worked voluntary in groups its kind of fun that we meet with new people and all work together
to serve something for meaning full In life rather then doing same things. Its also quit near to home just seven minutes walk.
Furthermore, I also have the skills and experience of years in the museum because I have been worked in different museum as a manager over there so I am good fit for this role like managing all the museum guests and placing the important things on there places carefully with working team.
Finally, I would be great full if you could need the person like for this role. My availabelty is Monday to Friday timing 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. I can work from this upcoming week if you need.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and providing your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your experience as a museum manager, you could have provided more specific examples of the tasks you performed to better demonstrate your suitability. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the reader understands exactly what you are applying for. To improve, ensure that each bullet point is expanded with more descriptive detail to fully satisfy the requirements of a formal application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Finally' to signal the transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward sentence structures and punctuation errors, such as the run-on sentence in the first paragraph. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes some parts of the text feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences are clearly separated with appropriate punctuation would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message effectively. You use some relevant terms like 'voluntary work', 'manager', and 'consideration'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor spelling errors, such as 'availabelty' instead of 'availability' and 'great full' instead of 'grateful'. Additionally, phrases like 'serve something for meaning full' are awkward and lack the precision expected at higher bands. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring the correct spelling of professional terms. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'I have been worked' instead of 'I have worked'), missing articles, and punctuation errors, such as comma splices. These errors are noticeable and occasionally require the reader to re-read a sentence to understand the intended meaning. While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over basic grammatical rules prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
