Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly explained your motivation for volunteering, outlined your relevant skills (communication, teamwork, IT), and provided specific availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, ensure you follow the specific instructions regarding the opening. The prompt requested you to begin with 'Dear Sir or Madam,' but you addressed the letter to 'Mr Kapoor.' While this is a minor deviation, adhering strictly to instructions is important in IELTS tasks. Your ideas are well-developed and relevant to the context of a museum volunteer application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs covering the required points, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'Additionally,' and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, starting two consecutive sentences with 'Moreover' makes the flow feel a bit rigid. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on a list-like structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'extensive past experience' and 'prompt response' are well-chosen. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'access me an opportunity' (should be 'gives me' or 'provides me with') and 'social person' (a more natural choice would be 'sociable' or 'outgoing'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice and better awareness of collocations to reach the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips throughout the text. Examples include 'interested to work' (should be 'interested in working'), 'being a part of team' (should be 'being part of a team'), and 'allow to me to do' (should be 'allow me to do'). While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on verb patterns (gerunds vs. infinitives) and article usage.
