Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. The letter follows the required format and maintains a consistent tone. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention your interest in 'gaining knowledge,' expanding on how your specific academic background in Historic Arts aligns with the museum's mission would have made the application more persuasive. The response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively, though it lacks the depth of detail that would push it into the higher band ranges.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'I am writing,' 'I have,' and 'I am available,' which help the reader follow your points. However, the transitions between sentences are sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, you could use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly. For example, instead of starting sentences with 'I' repeatedly, you could vary your sentence structure to improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sections of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'voluntary,' 'preserving,' 'sculptures,' and 'prompt response.' There are some spelling errors, such as 'persuing' (pursuing), 'diffent' (different), and 'instuments' (instruments). Additionally, there are minor word choice issues, such as 'historical things' which could be more precisely phrased as 'historical artifacts.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a broader range of precise vocabulary to reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am in 1st year' (missing 'my'), 'this skills' (should be 'these skills'), and 'work voluntary' (should be 'work voluntarily'). The phrase 'summer break is going on' is slightly unnatural. While you attempt complex sentences, they are sometimes marred by these small errors. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of minor grammatical slips prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of adverbs versus adjectives will help improve your accuracy.
