Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your background in history and your MBA, you could have elaborated more on how these specific attributes would benefit the museum's visitors. The letter is clear and the purpose is immediately apparent to the reader. To improve, ensure that your supporting details are more directly linked to the specific needs of a museum environment.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or are used in contexts where they do not perfectly fit the flow of the argument. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between your academic background and your motivation for volunteering. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used to create a smoother narrative flow would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'voluntary work', 'internship', and 'sculptures'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'post graduated' (should be 'recently graduated') and 'banking jobs' (should be 'a job in banking'). There is also a reliance on basic phrasing. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic or professional vocabulary and ensure that your word forms are consistently accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the letter. Examples include 'you looking for' (missing auxiliary verb 'are'), 'a bachelor degree' (should be 'a bachelor's degree'), and 'I have and a bachelor degree' (redundant 'and'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips will significantly improve your accuracy.
