A museum near your home is looking for people to do part-time voluntary/unpaid work. You would like to do some voluntary/unpaid work at the museum. Write a letter to the museum director to apply for the voluntary/unpaid work. In your letter
- explain why you want to do voluntary/unpaid work at the museum
- describe some skills and qualities you have that would be useful
- give details of when you would be available for work

Dear Sir
I am writing to apply for the part-time voluntary position at the museum, which was advertised on the local community notice board. As I live very close to the museum, this opportunity is very convenient for me.
There are two main reasons why I would like to work over here. Firstly, I have always been passionate about history and art, and I visit your museum regularly. I think it would be great chance to learn more about local culture and to contribute to my community. Secondly, I am currently free and I want to use my time productively instead of staying at home.
I believe I have some skills that would be useful for this role. I am quite good at communication talking to people from different backgrounds, because I worked as a receptionist last year. In addition, I am an organized and responsible person and I can help with arranging exhibits or guiding visitors. I can also speak a little French, which may help with foreign tourists.
Regarding my availability, I am available on weekday afternoons from Monday to Friday, and also on Saturday mornings. I can start from next week if needed.
