Dear Mr Kapoor,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to express my interest in working as a voluntary in your museum.

I am quite keen to do voluntary work, as in this summer I have 10-days vacation. Therefore, rather than spending time by scrolling social media on phone, it would be better to do valuable work for my bright future. Moreover, work in a museum access me to explore new work environment and develop essential skills like good communication, organization, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills for my successful career. Also, it would be an ideal opportunity for me to contribution for the society through charity work.

I have good communication, cooperation, teamwork and logical thinking capabilities, which allow me to create friendly work environment and build good relationship with colleagues and visitors. Moreover, I am polite, discipline and responsible person, which display my professionalism. I have wider knowledge regarding advanced IT system and computer techniques, which would be useful for keeping records and data entry.

Regarding my availability, I will be flexible to work from Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM, however, I will not able to present on weekends and public holidays.

I hope you consider my request and allow me to join museum soon. I look forward to your positive response in this matter.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for volunteering, detail your relevant skills such as IT proficiency and communication, and specify your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific examples of how your skills might be applied in a museum setting, such as assisting with cataloging or guiding visitors, which would further develop your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'Regarding my availability' to link ideas effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother; for instance, some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow and the structure is well-managed.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'ideal opportunity' and 'professionalism' are used correctly. However, there are some minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'working as a voluntary' (should be 'volunteer') and 'I will not able to present' (should be 'I will not be able to be present'). Expanding your range to include more precise collocations would help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'in this summer I have 10-days vacation' (should be 'this summer I have a 10-day vacation') and 'I am polite, discipline and responsible' (should be 'disciplined'). Additionally, 'access me to explore' is an incorrect verb usage. Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and the mistakes do not impede communication.
