Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to apply for the voluntary work in the museum. I came to know that you are looking for parttime voluntary worker.

I have been working as an Archaeologist for last six years. I am passionate to collect the knowledge about history. Working as a parttime volunteer in museum would escalate my knowledge. Additionally, as an Archaeologist I can provide the better service as I would like to contribute to growth of museum with my experience and skills.

However, I was honored by the district manager for finding history of ancient civilizations. Furthermore, I have vast knowledge about history. I have five years' experience of customer service and communication skills. In addition to it, I have two years of experience as a research manager.

I am available on every weekend and holidays. Please let me know further details and I will be delighted to assist you.

Yours faithfully,

Naina

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your motivation for volunteering, outline your professional background as an archaeologist, and specify your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal application. However, some ideas could be developed further; for instance, explaining how your specific research experience would benefit the museum's current projects would make your application more persuasive. Overall, the response is relevant and addresses the task requirements effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition to it' to link your ideas. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt. The use of paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of your qualifications and availability.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'archaeologist', 'ancient civilizations', and 'delighted'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'collect the knowledge' (better: 'gain knowledge') and 'provide the better service' (better: 'provide excellent service'). While you attempt to use more specific professional vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly unnatural. However, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly throughout the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'apply for the voluntary work in the museum' (missing 'a' or 'the' before museum), 'parttime voluntary worker' (should be plural or have an article), and 'finding history of ancient civilizations' (should be 'discovering the history'). Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication. Increasing your control over articles and prepositions would help improve your accuracy.
