Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are doing well in your life. I'm Shreya Kalra lives in your neighbourhood 2nd street Avenue. I got to know that you are looking for someone who can work as a part-time voluntary. So, I would like to take that opportunity for work in museum.
Firstly, I want to work in museum so that I can improve my knowledge towards ancient time and antique objects. I'm a high school student and I have taken history as my major core subject.
I have leadership qualities and good communication skills which helps this museum in growing. On the other hand , I had economics as other main subject so I can also help you in marketing of museum. I believe that my knowledge and qualification would be good asset for this museum.
At last, I would like to mention that after a week my summer vacation are going to commence can I join that time. Looking forward for your response.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained your motivation for volunteering, outlined your relevant skills (leadership, communication, and economics), and provided details regarding your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening sentence is slightly informal. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could explain how your history studies specifically relate to the museum's collection. Overall, the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'At last' to guide the reader. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter format.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'opportunity', 'qualities', and 'commence'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'knowledge towards ancient time' (should be 'knowledge of ancient history') and 'marketing of museum' (should be 'marketing of the museum'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific professional terms would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I'm Shreya Kalra lives in your neighbourhood' (should be 'who lives'), 'my summer vacation are going to' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'can I join that time' (incorrect phrasing for a request). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and relative clauses.
