Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. However, the tone is inconsistent. You began with 'Dear Rose,' which is inappropriate for a formal letter to a museum director, and you failed to follow the instruction to begin with 'Dear Sir or Madam.' While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, you mention having 'effective communication skills' but do not provide a specific example of how these would be applied in a museum setting. To improve, ensure your tone is consistently formal and provide more concrete details to support your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. For example, the sentence 'When I look into the event that event is about...' is repetitive and lacks smooth connectivity. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'that event') is precise and avoids unnecessary repetition.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You frequently use the word 'voluntary' as a verb (e.g., 'I want to voluntary'), which is incorrect; 'volunteer' is the correct verb form. Additionally, phrases like 'in upcoming time' and 'the advertise' are unnatural. To improve, focus on learning the correct word forms (noun vs. verb) and collocations. Using more specific terminology related to museum work, such as 'curatorial assistance' or 'visitor engagement,' would demonstrate a stronger command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('I want to voluntary'), article misuse ('the museum' vs 'a museum'), and awkward phrasing ('Even I also have...'). Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency also need attention, such as 'the event that will happen... in upcoming time.' While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring you use the correct parts of speech.
