Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining your motivation, describing your skills, and stating your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention being a researcher in the future, this could be expanded to explain how the museum experience specifically aids that goal. Additionally, the inclusion of your full address is unnecessary as the instructions explicitly state that you do not need to write any addresses. Ensure that you focus on expanding your ideas within the word count to provide a more comprehensive response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'Not only this', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions feel abrupt, and the referencing could be smoother. For instance, the transition between your interest in history and your previous experience at the Braid Museum could be better connected to improve the overall progression of the letter. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sections of your application.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'bilingual' and 'voluntary work'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors that hinder precision. For example, 'clarified many doubts from the voluntaries' is unnatural; 'volunteers' is the correct noun, and 'asked questions of the volunteers' would be more accurate. Similarly, 'dive more deeply into this ocean' is a bit clichéd and slightly out of place in a formal application. Improving your control over collocations and using more precise professional terminology would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I visited a lot of time in your museum' (should be 'I have visited your museum many times'), 'My skills exactly matches' (subject-verb agreement error: 'match'), and 'extravert' (should be 'extrovert'). Additionally, 'before also' is redundant. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
