Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state your motivation for volunteering, describe your relevant experience in a hospital, and provide specific availability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, you mention your hospital experience twice in the first paragraph without adding new depth. To improve, ensure each point is distinct and fully elaborated. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal application, though the structure could be more professional by clearly separating the introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a formal closing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'I am writing this letter to you because' and 'I wanted to tell you about' are functional but basic. The transition between sentences within the first paragraph is slightly choppy, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition to this'). Paragraphing is present, but the second paragraph is quite short compared to the first, creating an imbalance in the structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'voluntary', 'interacting', and 'opportunity'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'earned 5 months of experience' (gained/acquired is better) and 'bring my interest' (sparked/piqued my interest). There is also a minor error in 'welcoming skill' (interpersonal skills). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Focusing on collocations—words that naturally go together—would significantly enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'work as volunteer work at museum' (should be 'as a volunteer at the museum') and 'in hospital is also same role' (missing articles). Additionally, 'this experience bring my interest' contains a subject-verb agreement error. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent use of articles, prepositions, and correct verb tenses.
