Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain your motivation for volunteering, describe your relevant skills (communication and previous experience), and provide your availability. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention your Master's degree, you could have elaborated more on how your academic background specifically benefits the museum's visitors. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though it lacks some of the professional polish expected in a formal application. Overall, the task is addressed, but the ideas could be expanded with more detail to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'I am writing this letter regarding'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with punctuation, such as the lack of full stops between independent clauses (e.g., '...history i can guide tourist as i have good communication'). Improving your use of linking words and ensuring proper sentence boundaries would significantly improve the clarity and flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'do this job' and 'have some idea'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'freqantely', 'necessory', and 'promt', which indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to museum work, such as 'curatorial', 'exhibits', or 'visitor engagement'. The current range is adequate for the task but lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an ability to use simple sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'i work during in my last study break'), incorrect verb forms ('I am really exciting'), and missing articles. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits your ability to express more nuanced ideas. Focusing on basic sentence construction, such as ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and correcting your use of articles and tenses, will help you improve.
