Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the reason for volunteering, skills/qualities, and availability. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the explanation of why you want to volunteer is somewhat repetitive and lacks professional depth. The description of your skills mentions your academic background and your mother's profession, but the connection to the museum's needs could be more clearly articulated. While the task requirements are met, the tone is somewhat informal and lacks the polish expected in a formal application letter.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'Also' and 'Additionally'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the sentences do not flow smoothly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the motivation for volunteering and the specific skills offered could be improved to create a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'actual knowledge' instead of 'academic knowledge' or 'olden cultures' instead of 'ancient civilizations'. The spelling of 'Daimonds' is incorrect. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple descriptors that do not demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to history and professional volunteering.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Examples include 'I looking for' (missing auxiliary verb), 'I would like say' (missing 'to'), and 'there are to many peoples' (incorrect preposition and pluralization). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents a higher score.
