Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: the reason for volunteering, relevant skills, and availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention being an art student, the explanation of your skills is quite brief and could be expanded to better persuade the director. Additionally, the suggestion to do 'cleaning of floor' is a bit unusual for a museum volunteer role; focusing more on visitor engagement or administrative support would have been more effective. Overall, the task is addressed, but the content lacks the depth required for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is clear. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Moving forward' to link your points. However, the punctuation around these devices is often incorrect; for example, you use semicolons incorrectly after 'therefore' and 'thus'. These mechanical errors in punctuation slightly disrupt the flow. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical rather than natural. Improving your control over punctuation would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic phrases like 'keen interested' (which is grammatically incorrect) and 'exceptional information'. There are also some word choice issues, such as 'all kind of artwork' instead of 'all kinds of artwork'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to the museum context, such as 'exhibits', 'curatorial assistance', or 'visitor services'. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for a band 7 or higher.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several grammatical errors, such as 'my summer break is starts' (incorrect verb form), 'keen interested' (should be 'keenly interested' or 'keen on'), and 'which make me able' (should be 'makes me able'). Punctuation is a recurring issue, particularly the misuse of semicolons and commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct punctuation will help improve your score.
