Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear SIr or Madam,
I am writing with regards to my interest in part-time voluntary work in your museum, and I am ready to facilitate with all types of work you need.
I have been to this museum once in every two months and have better knowledge of all the directions and its history. Moreover, at my each visit, I found many people perplexed because of its presence in a huge land with numerous buildings and want to educate people about the qualities and the architecture this museum has.
I have recently completed two months of volunteering work in assisting the council to clean up the beach. During that time, I had developed good communication and leadership skills, where I was leading a team of 10 members and was able to fulfill the task without any inconvenience. Furthermore, I was really fond of educating people with some precise knowledge, which can help them to stay motivated in their lives, which I think will be the best part that I can contribute to it.
I am eventually studying a bachelor's degree, where I am required to attend classes on weekdays. In this way, to manage everything, I will be able to work on weekends as long as you require me to work.
I hope you accept my application and allow me to commence my work as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Rayyan Uddin.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain your motivation for volunteering, specifically your desire to assist visitors who find the museum layout confusing. You provide relevant examples of your skills, such as leadership and communication developed during your beach cleanup project. Finally, your availability is clearly stated as weekends. The tone is appropriate for a formal application. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, while you mention your desire to educate people, you could briefly elaborate on what specific historical aspects you are most passionate about to make your application more persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In this way' to link your ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the reader can easily follow your argument. To improve, ensure that your referencing is always precise; for example, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'its presence' is slightly ambiguous in relation to the museum, though the overall meaning remains clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'perplexed', 'commence', and 'inconvenience' show a good command of formal language. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'facilitate with all types of work' (which should be 'assist with') and 'eventually studying' (which is misused here; 'currently' would be more accurate). Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication. Expanding your use of topic-specific collocations related to museum work would further enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional 'which can help them' and the participial phrase 'having developed'. While there are some grammatical errors, such as 'I have been to this museum once in every two months' (which should be 'every two months') and 'I am eventually studying' (which should be 'currently'), these errors do not cause confusion. Your control of punctuation is generally good, and the majority of your sentences are clear. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and using time-related adverbs more accurately.
