Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state your motivation for volunteering, outline your relevant skills (organizational, computer, and communication), and provide specific dates for your availability. The tone is appropriately formal for a job application. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on why you are specifically interested in this museum, perhaps by mentioning a personal interest in local history or a specific exhibition, which would add more depth to your stated motivation and make the letter feel more personalized.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is well-organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'Currently' to link your ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to connect sentences more fluidly. The paragraphing is logical and appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall progression of information is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'institution,' 'professional exposure,' and 'proficiency.' However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'collage' (college), 'perusing' (pursuing), 'Additonally' (Additionally), and 'considaration' (consideration). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes. Incorporating more precise collocations, such as 'gaining valuable experience' instead of 'meaningful professional exposure,' would also enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I have a strong organizational abilities' (should be 'I have strong organizational abilities') and 'all these skill will contribute' (should be 'all these skills will contribute'). Additionally, the phrase 'looking forward for your response' should be 'looking forward to your response.' While these errors are present, they do not cause confusion for the reader. Increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help you achieve a higher score.
