Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt. You explained your motivation for volunteering, mentioned your relevant experience in a library, and noted your availability. However, the response is slightly underdeveloped. For instance, you mention your availability by saying you are 'delighted to start work as soon as possible,' but you do not provide specific details regarding your weekly schedule or hours, which is a key requirement of the task. To improve, ensure you provide concrete details for every part of the prompt to fully satisfy the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore,' 'In addition to,' and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition 'Therefore, regarding my application, I would appreciate the opportunity to accept my application' is repetitive and slightly confusing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional qualifications,' 'dedication,' and 'suitability.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you write 'I am recently looking for some contribution,' which is unnatural; 'I have been seeking opportunities to contribute' would be more precise. Additionally, you use 'voluntary or unpaid work' repeatedly, which is slightly repetitive. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied synonyms for 'work' or 'experience' would improve your lexical range and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'I have gain valuable experience' should be 'I have gained,' and 'I am recently looking' should be 'I have recently been looking.' There is also a punctuation error where you use a period instead of a comma in 'communication. organizational, and problem-solving skills.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage to improve accuracy.
